Masai Mara Lodge & Safari camp.
Duma Safari Camp is located in the heart of Maasai country,
bordering Kenya’s great Masai Mara Game Reserve. It is a
traditional safari camp in true ‘Out of Africa’ style – and
the smallest upscale camp in the Mara. Duma is an ideal base from
which to enjoy the spectacle of the annual wildebeest migration from
Serengeti in Tanzania to Masai Mara.
It is while in Masai Mara that the migration is at its most concentrated. “Mara” means “spotted’ and at this time the vast plains of the Great Rift Valley are literally spotted with wildebeest and zebra, and other game – with their attendant predators. Lions, leopards and cheetahs – as seen in Big Cat Diary – feast on the periphery of this massive herd movement. Duma Safari Camp is the tented camp of choice for many including artists, photographers and writers, who enjoy the privacy, personal attention and informal atmosphere found there.
Masai Mara in Kenya stretches out over a flat grassy plain and is most famous for its annual migration of millions of wildebeest. Photographic opportunities are endless. Many species of wildlife are comfortable by the game viewing vehicles and come up close for the perfect picture. Hot Air Ballooning is a very popular activity in the Mara and is a great way to see the wildlife and landscape. Drink champagne afterwards to celebrate a successful flight while your breakfast is cooked at the landing area. A visit to a hospitable Maasai village gives your Masai Mara safari a cultural edge. The Maasai live a traditional way of life in a 'Manyatta', living in simple mud covered straw huts. With over 500 species of bird life and open scenery the Masai Mara should definitely form part of your Kenyan safari.
